5 ways to keep yourself fit this Summer!
MAY 25, 2017
SUMMER is here and we are all set to take our long awaited yearly holidays! While finding the time or mood to manage your diet seems difficult, we are giving you 5 ways to stay healthy that are super simple to implement.
Most weight loss fads are related to diet and health, and whether you want to lose weight, drink less, get fit or stop smoking, and the reality of setting a disciplined routine on a holiday can throw even the most motivated people off track.
But, no! We aren’t here to give you the regular humdrum of eating right, no carbs, regular work outs, blah. That never helps because even though it’s giving you direction, it isn’t really helping your “easy fitness” problems.
However, the good news is that by making small, simple changes that are easier to maintain you can make a real difference to your health and well-being – we’ve got 5 foods that can help you survive this holiday!
- Start your day with some OJ.
Freshly squeezed or straight out of the carton, orange juice can lower cholesterol. Participants in a recent study increased their HDL levels 21% and lowered their LDL/HDL ration 16% by drinking three glasses a day for month. Just grab a bottle to go and this can be super easy to manage on any holiday!
- It’s all about those Oats!
I think its time you stop underestimating this wonder cereal! Oatmeal is a rich source of soluble fibre, which form a kind of gel in your intestine to reduce your body’s absorption of the fat you eat. Eating 1-1/2 cups a day could lower your LDL 12 to 24%. While you gorge on the lavish breakfast buffets, don’t forget to include a bowl of oats too!
- Heard of Omega-3s ?
Fish is much more than replacement for meat. It contains omega-3 fatty acids, which actually lower LDL cholesterol. Aim to eat Fish 3 times a week. For all the vegetarians out there, flaxseeds are a great alternative. You could simply put in a few packets of ground flax seed with your luggage. All you need to do is add them to your yogurt or cereal!
- Wine improves with age, we improve with Wine.
Alcohol – no matter what kind you drink, raises HDL levels. Wine has proven to have more than just a few health benefits so its obviously our most preferred type. “Moderate” means one drink for a woman, and two for a man. If you drink more than that, the damage could outweigh any benefits. Red wine offers additional benefits like powerful antioxidants that come from the grape skin. We don’t think you need to make any special adjustments for this on your holiday!
- Baked Food over their Fried counterparts.
Research shows it doesn’t help to just add monounsaturated fats to your diet. You need to replace some of the unhealthy fats that are already in your diet with better, smarter choices. The products at DIP Foods are an excellent example of just that and help ensure that your health is in check. With regular efforts at trying to create the same taste as that of a fried alternative, it works out to be a much healthier option. Just add a pack of baked potato chips or low fat tortilla chips in your carry-on bag and you’ll be sorted for all those late night cravings!
Well, that’s all for now. We really hope that all of this information and all our other articles are helping you make that lifestyle change. Always remember, if this is temporary, the results could be temporary too.
