Diwali party food you can plan in a jiffy!

OCTOBER 16, 2017

Diwali parties are awaited all year long. People not only expect you to throw the most flamboyant parties at home but also look forward to the really yummy food! Well, for all the lazy cooks out there, we’ve got a few menu ideas that look so amazing, your guests will never guess how quickly you made them.

We are giving you an entire 5 course menu that will not only help break the ice at your party, but even make it a huge success!

Drinks

Tasteful cocktails and a classy bar – something only a few people really get into. Alcoholic or not, it is always helpful to hold a drink and walk around socializing than have your hands give away your nervousness. A few drinks and all your guests will be comfortable and mingling with each other. Pair these with a few bar nibbles like baked tortilla chips with Mexican salsa or a yummy yoghurt dip with baked potato chips, and you are good to go!

Appetizer

Since this is a 5 course meal, you must remember to keep your appetizer bite-sized. You don’t want your guests to fill up too much on it, yet it needs to be something they could quickly pop into their mouths.

The ideal recipe for this is the Canapes Sev Puri! All Indians love chaat and this is sure be a hit. Made with only a few vegetables, 2 chutneys and sev this one’s easy to prepare on the spot too! Also, it is way easier to eat this out of baked canapé cups than flat, fried puris.

Entrée

The next thing on our menu is your Entrée for the evening. This one could still be passed around but needs to be a bit more substantial than bite-sized appetizers. Nothing could be better than crunchy, tangy pani puris filled with spicy water! All this recipe needs is a mix of the basic ingredients – boiled & mashed potatoes, onions, black chana and boondi. Top it up with the sweet and spicy chutneys and you are good to go.

We also recommend using the DIP Baked Pani Puri cups that are extremely healthy and so very delicious.

A really cool way to make these easy and fun to eat is to make pani puri shots. The puri filled with all the ingredients is placed on top of a shot glass filled with the sweet and spicy water. Eat your puri and wash it down with the water – it’s that simple.

Main Course

With the abundance of vegetarian dishes in the Indian cuisine, picking Indian as the main course can never go wrong. You can have your assortment of breads, vegetables, dals and rice. However, after all the other food if you want to keep it simple, you could go in for a delectable biryani recipe too!

The recipe for the layered Tri-Colour Biryani is super easy to make. Not only that, but the fancy look helps entice your guests as well. You could pair this with some curd or raita and your main course is ready for the night.

Dessert

After the blissful and heavy four courses, none of your dinner guests will be in the position to devour an elaborate dessert. So, keep the dessert simple and light. Open up a pack of the DIP Baked Coconut Laddu and all you’ve got to do is plate it. These coconut balls are light in texture, and require absolutely no preparation. They are ready to eat! It is also a great alternative to our Indian sweets like Rasgulla, Gulab Jamun, Barfi, etc which are not only high I sugar but also in ghee.

Now that food isn’t your worry anymore, go buy your diyas, rangoli and flowers to decorate your humble abode. After all, your guests need not know this was so easy to manage! ????
