SEPTEMBER 02, 2019
Potato chips are crisp, salty, tasty and difficult to put down. These qualities might make them popular among the masses but it doesn’t make them any healthier. It is common knowledge that fried potato chips leads to increased weight gain, high cholesterol levels and low nutrition. The best way to combat these potential health problems are to choose healthy variants of potato chips that reduce the negative health effects from consuming too much fried food. Here are some healthy options you can try out:
Zucchini Chips
Zucchini is full of niacin and thiamine, which are both essential vitamins for your hair and skin. To prepare healthy zucchini chips at home begin by slicing the zucchini into wafer-thin slices. If the slices seem a little wet, Dry them with paper towels before cooking them. To cook the zucchini chips in an oven, preheat the oven to 230 degrees celsius. Lightly coat the tops of the zucchini slices with olive oil and season with a pinch of salt. Put the chips into the oven and let them bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Once a single side is done, flip the chip around and coat the other side with olive oil and salt. Bake this side for the same amount of time. Take your zucchini chips out of the oven once they are golden brown and season them with powdered paprika and cumin or any other seasoning you prefer.
Baked Potato Chips
An often-overlooked alternative to fried potato chips is baked potato chips. DIP Foods baked potato chips have a 99% reduction in oil and 96% less fat. This all-natural product makes it easy for us to make a lifestyle change without compromising on the taste and flavour that we are all used to.
Baked apple chips
Who says chips need to be salty or spicy? These baked apple chips can be the perfect dessert while still being easy to make. If you are skilled with a knife then you can simply rely on a knife to cut the apple into thin wafers. However, to make the job easier we would recommend using a mandoline. Once you have thin wafer-like slices, use a knife to remove any seeds that might still be stuck in the apple slices. Next, place the slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees celsius and allow the apple slices to bake for 30 minutes. Once 30 minutes are over, turn them around and let the other side bake for another 30 minutes. With no added sugar, preservatives or additives, this is one of the healthiest desserts you can prepare for yourself.
