A Detox can do so much more to your body than just make your hair healthy or your skin glow – it can boost energy levels, improve digestion and help shift a few unwanted kilos too.

Losing weight can feel impossible at times, and getting started is probably the hardest part. But a detox diet can be just the thing to help you start – not only will sticking to an initial detox boost your immune system and encourage your brain to produce feel-good chemicals, but it’ll kick off you weight loss too!

The key to a comfortable cleanse is to ease yourself into the program, so that your body does not go into shock and give you nausea or headaches. Five days before you begin your detox plan progressively eliminate all toxins from your body like alcohol, caffeine, cigarettes, sugar, saturated fats & processed foods. Don’t forget to drink lots of water too.

This 7-day detox is aimed at refreshing and recharging your system!

Day 1

Morning : Start with half a lemon squeezed into warm water or cleansing herb tea.

Breakfast : Fresh Vegetable Juice. Add a tea spoon of chia seeds for extra fiber. No added fruits.

Lunch : Raw or lightly steamed vegetables with a variety of seasonal and organic vegetables.

Dinner : Vegetable Stew or Soup.

Water : Drink as much water, unsweetened herbal tea as you wish during the day. Aim for at least 8 glasses in the whole day.

Snacks : Make a trail mix of nuts and seeds like walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds and flax seeds. Eat low GI fruits like guava, pear, apple, orange, strawberries, peach, plums and apricots.

Day 2

Morning : Start with half a lemon squeezed into warm water or cleansing herb tea.

Breakfast : Fresh Vegetable Juice. Add a tea spoon of chia seeds for extra fiber. No added fruits.

Lunch : Lightly cooked vegetables with quinoa and baby spinach salad.

Dinner : Vegetable stew with stir-fried red and yellow capsicums and broccoli, tossed with extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice and garlic.

Snacks & Water : Same as Day 1.

Day 3

Morning : Start with half a lemon squeezed into warm water or cleansing herb tea.

Breakfast : ¾ cup of natural yoghurt with sliced fresh fruits, sprinkle with chia seeds, sliced almonds and walnuts and drizzle with a little raw honey if desired. You can follow this with green tea or herb tea.

Lunch : Lentil and Vegetable Stew.

Dinner : Raw Papaya and Carrot Salad.

Snacks & Water : Same as Day 1.

Day 4

Morning : Start with half a lemon squeezed into warm water or cleansing herb tea.

Breakfast : Coconut Banana Power Smoothie.

Lunch : 1 bowl of vegetable stew with a cup of quinoa.

Dinner : Lentil & Vegetable Stew

Snacks & Water : Same as Day 1.

Day 5

Morning : Start with half a lemon squeezed into warm water or cleansing herb tea.

Breakfast : Fresh Vegetable Juice. Add a tea spoon of chia seeds for extra fiber. No added fruits.

Lunch : Steamed vegetables of choice with fresh herbs, olive oil and crushed pumpkin seeds. Combine this with ½ cup organic brown rice and a handful of almonds.

Dinner : Salad of fresh rocket leaves with red capsicum, mushrooms and onions. Add sunflower seeds. Toss in virgin olive oil with lemon and fresh herbs.

Snacks & Water : Same as Day 1.

Day 6

Morning : Start with half a lemon squeezed into warm water or cleansing herb tea.

Breakfast : Make a fruit compote of dried prunes, apricots, peaches and apples pre-soaked. Sprinkle with flaked almonds and 2 tbps of ground flaxseeds. Have it with some plain yogurt.

Lunch : Lentil and vegetable soup with ½ cup brown rice.

Dinner : Raw Papaya and Carrot Salad

Snacks & Water : Same as Day 1.

Day 7

Morning : Start with half a lemon squeezed into warm water or cleansing herb tea.

Breakfast : Coconut Banana Power Smoothie

Lunch : Lentil and vegetable soup with tossed greens, with olive oil and lemon juice. Add a handful of raw almonds and raisins.

Dinner : Grilled mushrooms with green salad, sweet potato mash and ½ cup of brown rice.

Snacks & Water : Same as Day 1.

 

Congratulations! You have finished the 7 day cleanse! You should be feeling fresh and energetic with a lot of vitality. Your body will be feeling great inside-out.

We hope this detox helps you achieve the goals you have set for yourself. But always remember, however strict your diet is, it wont help till you don’t push yourself to exercise. Real fitness is the balance of both.
